This site-specific installation for a 12th century church in Marsum (Groningen province) was made for the cultural festival Terug naar het begin, 2018. Based on an archive photo of the interior I reconstructed the picture.
Through a 5 x 5 cm opening, in one of the covered windows, shone in a light that framed precisely the shape of the 1980 photograph.
If you walk in the lighted area you could find a outsight photo as it was around the year 1940.

We developed a construction to blind the church’s interior without connections to the building. This construction just leans on the façade and are made as masks with soft cusion edges. It stays on it’s place by the weight of gravity.
