behind the scenes

In the central hall of the Minerva Art Academy in Groningen you could once see three adjoining classrooms. In addition, the hall had different floor levels. This temporary installation revived the spatial experience in the hall as it used to be in 1984 (when it was opened). On the floor the contours of the stairs to the lowered floor, which are still below the surface, have been made visible.
The photographs on the wall have been made especially for this installation, although the use of black and white photos suggests they are from the 80’s. But if you look closer you will find contemporary details.
