Born and raised in the countryside in the north of the Netherlands has had its influence on the development of Sanders work. At an early age he began searching for traces and patterns in the dirt roads around his home. This treasure searching and observations of the public space still are the starting points for many of his works. Sander studied Architecture and Interior Design in The Hague and Groningen. After his graduation he started developing sight specific art installations. These where based on historical facts from archives by doing research on location. Not a truthful reconstruction of what once was, but the power of the imagination became the main focus in his work. Later he focused on drawing his observations of the public space. Drawing with pen and ink gave him the focus that fits the atmosphere of the work. The sceneries he presents have an atmosphere of pleasant desolation. You are on your own observing your surroundings. The work is a manifest for keeping connected with oneself and seeking to be a pure solitary observer.

Sander works also on commission. Don’t hesitate to contact him and ask for the possibilities.
